Adidas and Kanye West Reach Settlement After Antisemitism Fallout
Adidas, the German multinational corporation, has concluded all legal proceedings with American rapper Kanye West, also known as Yeezy.
Adidas originally cut ties with West in 2022, responding to public pressure from the American Jewish Committee (AJC) after the artist made antisemitic remarks.
On Tuesday, Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden announced that the company had
“reached an out-of-court settlement with West to end all legal proceedings without any monetary exchange.”
“The situation with West is now in the past. All negotiations and settlements have been finalized,” Gulden said,
without disclosing further details of the agreement.
Since ending its partnership with West in 2022, Adidas has held unsold Yeezy stock valued at approximately €1.2 billion (£840 million). Following the settlement, Adidas announced that it plans to sell the remaining Yeezy inventory by the end of 2024.
